Research Line
Socio-economic System
The marine and coastal socio-ecological systems provide a series of ecosystem services: components of ecosystems which are used, consumed or enjoyed by people, such as food, climate regulation and recreational opportunities, among others. These ecosystem services influence the livelihood and well-being of the coastal communities.
This research line seeks to understand past and future changes in the flows of these services, and the responses and change of trajectories of marine and coastal socio-ecological systems in the Subantarctic zone, against external factors such as climatic change, the expansion of tourism and aquaculture.
