The Research Center Dynamics of High Latitude Marine Ecosystems (IDEAL) is financed by the National Commission for Scientific and Technological Research (CONICYT) of Chile, through the Fund of Research Centers in High-priority Areas (FONDAP).
It is led by the University Austral of Chile (UACh), being its associate institutions the University of Concepcion (UdeC) and the Research Center of the Quaternary, Fuego-Patagonia and Antarctica (CEQUA) in Punta Arenas. The logistic financing for antarctic research is provided by the Chilean Antarctic Institute (INACh).
Main national collaborators include researchers from the Research Center in Ecosystems of the Patagonia (CIEP) in Coyhaique and the University of Magallanes (UMAG) in Punta Arenas.
At an international level, the Alfred Wegener Institute for Polar and Marine Research (AWI), in Bremerhaven, Germany, is our partner institution. We also have collaboration with researchers from other oceanographic institutions of recognized world-wide prestige, such as the Scripps Institution of Oceanography and the Center for Coastal Physical Oceanography (CCPO), both from U.S.A., the CADIC-Ushuaia in Argentina and the Korea Polar Research Institute (KOPRI). ►Download brochure
